A big part of Jollibee’s “secret sauce” is its menu, which is eclectic by American fast-food standards.

Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee gathers crowds and lines whenever it opens a new location in the U.S. In New York City recently, the “McDonald’s of the Philippines” got plenty of attention and love from fans who grew up with Jollibee in their native country and newcomers to the brand curious to try its unique menu of fast food items. Fried chicken, ok, we get that, but spaghetti with a sweet banana ketchup sauce sounds very different to many Americans.

CCD Innovation’s Kara Nielsen believes it could be a contender in the fried chicken wars: “Jolibee is going to be up there when we talk about Chick-fil-A and KFC; ‘who’s got the best chicken?’”
